Foundations for a Professional Life

Lesley’s Liberal Arts & Business programs offer a broad foundation for all undergraduate students. Our outcomes-based CommonLynx general education curriculum is built to cultivate well-rounded individuals with exceptional communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills, empowering them to excel in any field. Whether they are seeking a liberal arts degree, a dual degree as an education major or knowledge on how to start a small business, Lesley has the programs to propel student’s careers forward.

Programs

Our undergraduate programs in Liberal Arts & Business span the Humanities & Social Sciences, including English, Creative Writing, and History, to the Natural Sciences & Mathematics, including Biology, Environmental Science, and Math, and a Business program specifically designed to support those seeking to run schools, mental health organizations and practices, art studios, and other businesses centered on providing human services. Our business program also provides a suite of classes designed to give students in other programs at Lesley the tools they need to lead an organization in their field, and the opportunity to earn an MBA in one year, if they are an undergraduate Business major.

Internships

What sets Lesley apart is our goal to provide each of our students with an internship that offers the opportunity for hands-on experience in an area they would like to explore. We work directly with each student to identify what interests them and the internship opportunities that will enable them to take what they are learning in the classroom and bring it to life. Previous placements range from publishing houses and creative magazines to historical societies and sports teams.

Cohorts

We are committed to supporting all students throughout their entire career journey, starting from the day they enroll throughout their careers. Starting in the Fall of 2024, each entering undergraduate will be in a cohort of students to explore their professional interests with alumni and faculty who become the essential mentors and collaborators necessary for professional development and support. Our Business Club, for instance, is a student cohort designed to broaden understanding of the spectrum of business possibilities through introductions to Lesley alumni and community members and to local companies and organizations.

Flexible Curriculum

As with all programs at Lesley, the Liberal Arts & Business programs are designed to encourage students to take a suite of classes in other areas of the university so students can build the program that best serves their professional future. Students in liberal arts may take classes in photography in the College of Art & Design, or in Expressive Arts in the Psychology department—whatever they believe will enhance their path forward.
