Art Talks Lecture Series | January 2018 Residency
Visiting artists, writers, art historians and critics, and curators discuss and present their work and ideas during a public lecture series sponsored by the MFA Visual Arts program during each residency.
These events are free and open to the public and are accessible by MBTA redline train to Porter square. The Art Talks Lecture Series is sponsored by the College of Art and Design MFA in Visual Arts program and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Dion’s work examines the ways in which dominant ideologies and public institutions shape our understanding of history, knowledge, and the natural world. The artist’s spectacular and often fantastical curiosity cabinets, modeled on Wunderkammern of the 16th and 17th Century, exalt atypical orderings of objects and specimens. His work has been shown at major exhibitions at institutions such as the Miami Art Museum, MoMA, and the Tate Modern. His largest American survey of work opened at the ICA Boston in October 2017.
The MFA in Visual Arts Art Talk series at Lesley University College of Art and Design is supported, in part, by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
