Making a Case for the Whole Child

Children do not develop in isolation. Numerous systems and people work in the interest of strengthening child development, yet how do we ensure that children receive the resources and services they need? How can teachers collaborate with community partners to increase children’s opportunities for success across many evolving landscapes?

In this session, Dr. Lisa Fiore (professor and Director of the Child Homelessness Initiative at Lesley University) joins Dr. Aura Obando (Family Team Medical Director at Boston Health Care for the Homeless) and Wendy Kennedy, MS.Ed. (Director of Education, Horizons for Homeless Children) to discuss community components that work together to move beyond a narrow understanding of child development. Using case studies and examples of current initiatives, the panelists will engage with participants to move a holistic system from vision to collective, community action.

Free and open to the public.
