Our Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) workshops and courses cover practice questions, test-taking strategies, some content, and resources for individual study to Lesley students and alumni, current Lesley applicants, and the general public, usually 4 times per year.
Spring 2023: All workshops will be held remotely. Most workshops will be synchronous, meaning you must attend during the specified hours. The English as a Second Language workshop will be asynchronous.

Math General Curriculum
Prepare for the Math subtest of General Curriculum (GC):
- Online Math Diagnostic EDIAG 5000 is similar to the GC Math subtest, and results can help determine the next steps for preparation. Diagnostic is a co-requisite for course and workshop. Lesley students and alumni can register for and take the diagnostic at no charge without registering for the workshop or course. Lesley students in Elementary Education, Moderate Disabilities, or Severe Disabilities programs are strongly advised to take the diagnostic during their first semester at Lesley to have enough time to prepare for the subtest.
- An intensive, 36-hour course, LMTEL 6600, open to Lesley students (and others as space permits). Cost: $375 Lesley affiliates; $500 general public.
- A 4-session weekend workshop, LMTEL 5600, open to Lesley students, current applicants, alumni, and the general public. Cost: $100 for Lesley students and alumni; $325 general public.

LMTEL 5600 is a 4-session (total of 18 hours) workshop that covers Number Sense; Geometry and Measurement; Probability, Data, and Statistics; Patterns, Relations and Algebra; and open-response questions. Includes an online math diagnostic and online support between workshops. Limited to 40 attendees, first-come, first-served.

Asynchronous online workshopDescription
This intensive five-week online workshop offers a review of ESL test content, with strategies for multiple choice and open responses. Study strategies will cover each of the test objectives, including linguistics and sociolinguistics, language acquisition, knowledge of ESL instructional approaches, teaching in the 4 domains, and assessment for English language learners. This is not an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) prep workshop.
Previous coursework strongly recommended prior to the workshop:
- Theories of Language Acquisition
- ESL Instructional Approaches for Oral Language, Reading and Writing
- Sociolinguistics
- and Assessment for ELLs
You should also have familiarity with WIDA and TESOL standards.
This workshop is a review of the information required for the test and does not replace essential coursework.

How to Register
Using the Elevate System for Course Registration
Elevate is an online registration system used for continuing education and other services. Even if you have taken courses at Lesley previously, you will need to create a new account for Elevate, which you can use for future courses offered through this system.
Each course has a unique registration code. Make sure your correct course/start date is listed on the upper right-hand corner of the “Create Account” sign-in page. After entering your information, the system will prompt you for payment, if appropriate.
Once registered, you will receive two emails: one from CAPS@lesley.edu with your Elevate username and portal link; one from the Registrar’s Office with your Lesley credentials for Blackboard/myLesley and Self-Service. If you do not receive an email within two business days regarding your Lesley credentials, please contact our IT department at 617.349.8770 or IT@lesley.edu
Workshop confirmations, cancellations, and/or changes will be made through email. Make sure your email address is current, correct, and legible, and check your email before departing for the workshops.
