You’ll co-construct knowledge with faculty who will support you as you advance your own inquiry and learn the foundations of your discipline. You'll learn how to help your students prepare for lifelong learning with courses in communication and social justice and inclusion. Design accessible curriculum and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Explore positive behavior supports. Discover effective ways to teach subject areas. And through self-reflection, you'll gain the cultural awareness that will lead to a fair and compassionate classroom.
During your program, you'll discover how to develop a variety of strategies for adapting curriculum, and apply those strategies during your two student teaching experiences. And because evaluating students is a responsibility of all special educators, you’ll also focus on assessment issues.
