Orientation Preparation

To assist you in your transition to graduate study at Lesley, we offer an orientation program for all incoming students.

  • Register for Orientation!

    We invite you to attend the Virtual Graduate Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm ET. The Graduate Orientation is designed for all new graduate students at Lesley University. You will receive information and assistance that will increase your success at Lesley and have an opportunity to meet other new students.

  • Access your Lesley email

    A Lesley email address has been assigned to you, and appears on your Enrollment Confirmation Letter. From this point forward, all university electronic communication will be sent to you at this address, so be sure to check your account frequently.

    Your password is the same one you’ve been using to check on the status of your documents during the admissions process. If you did not activate your account yet, you may do so now by visiting password.lesley.edu.

  • Fulfill immunization and coverage requirements

    Immunization
    All students will be required to submit proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or to have an approved medical or religious exemption in order to participate in any on-campus experience this Fall.

    Massachusetts requires all students taking at least 9 credits in the Fall and Spring semesters to fulfill the state’s immunization requirements. For questions, contact Student Health Service by email at lesleyhealthservice@lesley.edu or call 617.349.8222

    Health Insurance
    Massachusetts requires all full- or three-quarter-time students to enroll in a Lesley-sponsored health insurance plan OR provide proof of enrollment in an alternate qualifying insurance plan.

  • Obtain your ID card and sign up for alerts

    Lesley ID
    You can get an ID card at the Doble Public Safety Office, 34 Mellen Street, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also get an ID card online.

    Emergency Alert System
    You’ll automatically receive alerts to your Lesley email from Public Safety notifying you of an emergency, weather-related closing or delay, or other potentially hazardous situation. Please confirm your contact information, add other mobile devices, and choose your notifications preference. You may register as many devices as you wish. You can receive alerts via email, text, SMS, and phone through this service.

    The information you provide will remain private and we will only use it for emergency alerts and notifications.

Advising

Our academic advisor plays a key role in your education. Advisors not only know program requirements, but they also get to know you and the goals you aspire to. Advisors help you select the right courses for your program, and keep you on track toward fulfilling your degree requirements. They can help you navigate everything from registering for classes to selecting an internship.

Meet with your advisor

If you have not already met with your advisor, you’ll want to set up a meeting to discuss first semester registration, course sequencing, your program of study, and any other topics relevant to your degree program. Your advisor’s contact information can be found on your Enrollment Confirmation Letter. You can also find your advisor contact information on the graduate accepted students page.

  • Meet with your advisor

    If you have not already met with your advisor, you’ll want to set up a meeting to discuss first semester registration, course sequencing, your program of study, and any other topics relevant to your degree program. Your advisor’s contact information can be found on your Enrollment Confirmation Letter.

  • Register for courses

    After meeting with your advisor, you’ll be ready to register for courses using Self-Service

  • Massachusetts Educator Licensure

    Massachusetts Educator Personnel ID (MEPID)
    All educator licensure candidates are required to report a MEPID to Lesley University. You’ll want to set up your electronic account with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and submit your MEPID. Read more about setting up and submitting your MEPID.

    Educator Licensure and Certification
    The Certification and Licensure Office can help you with educator licensure, including becoming a licensed educator, renewing a teacher license, and transferring a license between states.

    MTEL (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)
    If you’re enrolled in an initial licensure program, you’ll be required to take and pass the MTEL during your studies. You’ll want to discuss your program’s MTEL policies with your assistant director of academic advising at the beginning of your program.

Lesley students use myLesley, Self-service, and Lesley Email to conduct business during your time as a graduate student. These applications are central to your success at Lesley University.

  • myLesley

    Your myLesley student account will allow you to contact your professors, browse student services, and access library databases, course information, assignments, and announcements via myLesley.

  • Self-Service

    You've used Self-Service before to check on your application materials. Now, you can use it to access your class schedules, grades, and financial aid information.

  • Lesley Email

    You have been assigned a Lesley University email account. From this point on, we’ll use this email address to communicate with you, so be sure to check your account frequently.

    The Career Resource Center provides career-counseling services to students and alumni. The center maintains Lesley Career Connection, a searchable database of job postings, workshops and job fairs.

    Center for Academic Achievement
    The center offers peer tutoring, online tutoring, and support for all Lesley students.

    Counseling Center
    The center supports students' mental and emotional well-being through individual counseling sessions, assessments and referral services.

    International Student Services
    International Student Services supports our international students with immigration, employment authorization, cross-cultural programming, and student advocacy.

    Disability Support Services
    We believe in equal educational opportunity for all qualified students in our programs of study. Faculty, administrators, and staff are knowledgeable about disabilities and work closely with students to provide accommodations and support services.

  • Sign-up for MBTA Passes

    As a Lesley University commuter or resident student, you can order a discounted MBTA Semester Pass through our Office of Student Services. With the Semester Pass, the MBTA provides an 11 percent discount off the monthly fare and unlimited rides for four months. Choose from bus, link (bus/subway), express bus, commuter rail, and boat passes.

  • On-campus jobs

    Find a part-time student job on campus through our Federal Work-Study, Lesley Works,  student employment programs. From tutoring to clerical work to assisting in a lab, you’re likely to find a position that matches your interests.
