Study Abroad Programs & Application Process

Students from all majors and academic programs can study abroad. The university is currently reviewing its Study Abroad program options and will update this page to reflect those changes. Check back for updates soon!

In the meantime, meet with your academic advisor or email advising@lesley.edu to discuss study abroad opportunities and next steps.

Requirements to Study Abroad

Be in both good academic and good conduct standing with Lesley University.
Obtain a passport or renew yours, if required.
Comply with any provider or exchange requirements.
Complete required application through both Lesley and your study abroad program.

Apply to Study Abroad

You can apply to study abroad in 4 easy steps.

Email advising@lesley.edu requesting to meet with an advisor about study abroad.
Meet with your academic advisor to discuss programs abroad.
Decide on a program and get a cost estimate from the provider. After you meet with your academic advisor, meet with student financial services (help@lesley.edu) to discuss paying for your semester abroad.
Complete the consortia agreement sent by your academic advisor.

Financial Aid

You can usually use federal and state aid to pay for study abroad. Fill out the FAFSA as you normally would.
Receive a cost estimate from the Study Abroad Office for your chosen program and review your aid options with the Financial Aid Office.
Complete a Study Abroad Contractual Agreement from the Financial Aid Office.

Students with Disabilities

We are committed to ensuring that all qualified students with disabilities are afforded an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from our programs and services. To receive accommodations, a student must have a documented disability as defined by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, and provide documentation of the disability.
Any site has the potential to be accessible. Students are encouraged to speak with their disability specialist to identify the reasonable accommodations they may need overseas.
Just as cultures differ, so do disability accommodations and perceptions. The key for any study abroad participant is flexibility. Contact Mobility International for assistance in finding programs and overseas support services.

Information for Parents

When comparing program costs, be sure to look at total program costs- program fee and estimated out of pocket expenses.
Written by three leading study abroad experts - Berdan, Goodman, and Gertz (2015) - A Parent Guide to Study Abroad contains critical information parents need to inform themselves and to support their student as they navigate the study abroad experience.
When overseas, students should follow precautions in order to travel safely. They should consult the US State Department Resources for up-to-date information on travel precautions for the country where they will be studying or traveling.
