Professional Certificate, full-time or part-time post-baccalaureate program

Produce stories that move and excite.

Want to make your dream of becoming a professional animator a reality? Our professional certificate program, designed for students who already have a bachelor’s degree, will prepare you for the career you want. In just two years, you’ll gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art animation facilities and top Greater Boston studios while earning 60 credits.

From pencil drawing and armature puppets to motion graphics and interactive animation, you’ll learn the skills and techniques to be successful in the field. Throughout the program, you’ll work closely with our expert faculty, many of whom have worked for top companies like DreamWorks and Nickelodeon. Push boundaries and watch your imagination come to life with projects that exhibit the stories that only you can tell.

Studying Animation and Motion Media at Lesley University means you’ll also gain real-life experience that will get you where you want to be. You’ll intern at studios in the Greater Boston area, working alongside professionals in the industry. This invaluable opportunity will prepare you for life after graduation with the know-how and connections that will help you succeed.

If you’re entering our certification program with no art background, you’ll also take required prerequisite foundation courses before or during the program.

Geoff Marian ’08
Geoff Marian was born and raised in Kansas, and is now a California native. He currently works as a storyboard artist for the Warner Bros. TV series Teen Titans Go. After graduating, he got his start as an animator for the PBS TV series Word Girl. He’s also storyboarded for Astroblast on PBS and participated in a summer internship at Nickelodeon’s Nick.com.

He says that it’s important to learn about current events, literature, and types of art other than your own. The better informed you are, the better artist you are. Check out his work at splatboom.com
