Bike Services

Getting around by bike is earth friendly and efficient. We encourage safe biking as a way to decrease pollution and congestion. Riding a bike also improves your health and fitness. Here's what you need to know about bikes on campus.

Bike Registration

If you're planning to bring your own bike to campus, you must register it with Public Safety and receive a bike identification tag. Registration is free and helps to deter crime, identify lost or stolen bikes, and improve parking and safety across campus. Please register your bike with 529 Garage, which is a free North American bike registration service.

Bike Racks

Our bike parking capacity is currently 358 spaces. While most of our bike racks across campuses are exposed to the elements, we do have some that are covered or partially covered by building overhangs and/or trees. These bike racks are located outside of the Public Safety office, along the window wall of the Fitness Center, at South End of Lot B parking lot, outside of Lawrence Hall at 99 South Campus, and at the exterior of University Hall at 1815 Mass Ave. See the campus map to view all bike rack locations.

Bike Repair

Need to make a minor repair? A bike repair stand is located behind Stebbins Hall on Doble Campus.

Bluebikes

We're big fans of Bluebikes, the Boston-area bike sharing program. Bluebikes stations can be found near Doble Campus at Massachusetts Avenue and Jarvis Street, near South Campus at Garden and Shepard Streets, and at Porter Square on Massachusetts Avenue in front of the Lunder Arts Center. You can also grab a bike near Harvard Square, Central Square, Harvard University, or MIT.

Biking Around Cambridge

You'll find that Cambridge is a biking city. It has miles of bike lanes and bike paths, with more routes planned. Learn about rules, regulations, and laws on bicycle use in the City of Cambridge.
