She has had a long affiliation with the school, teaching in the Adult Learning and Development PhD program (now Human Development and Learning) and receiving her PhD in Educational Studies through the school.

An associate professor, Dr. Rutstein-Riley has also taught in our College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Social Science Division. She founded The Girlhood Project, which brings together undergraduate students and adolescent girls to discuss identity, body image, critical media literacy and relationship health.

In addition to her doctorate, Dr. Rutstein-Riley holds a master of public health from Boston University School of Public Health and a BA from Simmons University.

She has been at Lesley since 2005, most recently as the dean of faculty.

In the coming year, Dr. Rutstein-Riley will focus on a number of school-wide goals, including expanding professional development and innovative practices and bringing the school’s offerings to new audiences.

She says, “Working closely with the Graduate School of Education’s expert group of faculty and staff is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to a year of rich collaboration and moving forward with our important teaching and learning agenda.”
