Housing for Fall 2021

University Housing & Dining Program

Having received a good response to the Fall Housing Interest/Needs Survey, we are refining the Housing Program to meet the residential needs and preferences of as many students as possible. We are also considering the health and safety concerns related to the likely continued presence of COVID-19.

For Fall 2021, we are offering housing on our South Campus (formerly known as the Brattle Campus), Doble Campus, and in local hotels. Fall 2021 courses that meet in person will take place on South and Porter Campuses.

Questions?

If you have housing questions that have not been answered here, please contact Nathaniel Mays at nmays@lesley.edu or 617.894.2765 by April 30, 2021, the deadline for returning students to request housing. (New students have until June 1.)

Housing Options & Deadlines

Please read this information carefully before you submit your $300 deposit to reserve housing.

  • Returning Students: The deposit is due Friday, April 30, 2021, by 5:00 pm (EDT).
  • New Students: The deposit is due by Tuesday, June 1, 2021, by 5:00 pm (EDT).

In early May 2021, we will provide information on the array of dining options, including a full meal plan and food purchase options.

  • Vaccination Status

We are requiring all students who will be on campus to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before Fall 2021. According to the Massachusetts Higher Education Testing Group, residential colleges and universities should work to ensure at least 80% and ideally 90% vaccination levels on their campuses.

Read more about our immunization requirements for Fall 2021.

  • Single-Occupancy Rooms in Residence Halls

Many students expressed a preference to live in a single-occupancy room due to the uncertainty about  COVID-19 conditions in the Fall. Most of our residence hall rooms are not configured for single-occupancy, so this may impact the number of students we can accommodate in single rooms on campus.

In the residence halls we will be using, students living in a single room would be sharing a bathroom with other students.

  • Additional Singles with Private Bathrooms in Nearby Hotels

To help meet the demand for single rooms, we will partner with nearby hotels as we have done this year. The hotels are located within about a block of South Campus (formerly known as Brattle Campus) and Porter Campus.

These single rooms, which have private bathrooms, will be reserved as a part of the university’s housing inventory. The rooms offer the option of reserving housing for a portion of the semester particularly for graduate students in low-residency programs.

Students living in the hotels will be charged by the university for their room at a higher rate than that for the single rooms in the on-campus residence halls in light of the private bathrooms and the additional cost to the university.

When you submit your deposit, please indicate whether or not you are interested in living in one of the hotels.

  • Shared-Occupancy Rooms

This option is only for students who will be fully vaccinated.

We will offer shared-occupancy rooms with shared bathrooms in our residence halls, provided that both roommates will be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by the time they arrive on campus.

Students may state their choice of a roommate, if known, on the Housing Deposit Form. We will not assign any vaccinated students a roommate who has not been vaccinated.

  • Disability Accommodations in Housing

We will offer students with documented disabilities who request housing appropriate accommodations in their room assignments. To request accommodations, please contact Dr. Dan Newman, Executive Director, Academic Support Services, at dnewman@lesley.edu.

  • 2021-2022 Room Rates
    • Shared Room: $5,300/semester
    • Single Room: $5,900/semester
    • Single room in a hotel with a private bathroom: $7,500 to $7,900/semester (estimated). The final hotel rate will be based on the block rate we negotiate with the hotels.
  • Dining and Food Options

We're offering dining services at White Hall, Washburn Hall, and other grill and café stations across our campuses.

Read more about our meal options for Fall 2021.

  • How to Request Housing

Students interested in being included in the process to be assigned a room in either one of the residence halls or one of the two hotels will need to submit their Housing Deposit Form along with their $300 housing deposit by Friday, April 30, 2021, at 5:00 pm (EDT).

We will do our best to meet everyone’s preferences. Given the complexity of balancing the supply and demand of housing with health and safety considerations, we cannot offer students the ability to choose which residence hall they will live in.

Once we have received all the housing deposits, students who have paid deposits will receive more information from Residence Life about their housing status. Students will then receive a Room and Board Contract with information about the cost and configuration of campus dining and meal plans.
