Lesley's new academic leader has a background in public health and Latin American issues. Dr. Everett worked at Portland State University for more than two decades before joining Lesley.

4. College of Art and Design unveils visual identity

Undergraduate design students collaborated to create the new “Lesley Art + Design” brand extension for our College of Art and Design.

Commencement speakers Jason Reynolds, Elizabeth Warren and Gay Su Pinnell called on graduates to persist against injustice and use their degrees for good; alumnus Devin Meyer ’90 celebrated the confidence and independence of Threshold Program students at their graduation; and the university celebrated our first full graduating class of the Urban Scholars Initiative.

6. Lesley hosts bilingual education conference

Thanks to the advocacy of many educators, including Lesley professors Meg Burns, Amanda Wager and Laura Schall-Leckrone, bilingual education was reinstated in Massachusetts. In March, Lesley hosted a conference on dual language learning for teachers, superintendents and universities, sponsored by the Multistate Association for Bilingual Education.

8. Caitlin Kalafus ’17 tours with legendary musician Cyndi Lauper
Aug. 6, 2018
Drummer Caitlin Kalafus, a 2017 graduate of our design program, toured with 80s pop icon Cyndi Lauper, playing venues from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles to New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden.

Aug. 22, 2018
Ollie, a Siberian Husky mix owned by Lesley Athletic Trainer Alecia Baran, was a finalist in People Magazine's “World’s Cutest Rescue Dog” contest.

10. Lilu Barbosa is named new Chief Diversity Officer
Sept. 19, 2018
Lesley named Amarildo “Lilu” Barbosa as our first-ever chief diversity officer, leading our newly-established Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
