Your Voting Rights

In the United States, when you turn 18 years of age you have earned the right to vote. It is easy to register to vote and there are many non-partisan websites to help you register in accordance with your state’s rules, such as StudentVote.org and Campusvoteproject.org.

Vote in Home State or Massachusetts 

As a college student (undergraduate or graduate), you have the option of registering to vote in your home district or in the district that your college/university is located in. If you chose to vote in Massachusetts, the following may be helpful:

✏️ October 29th, 2022: Voter registration deadline — make sure you’re registered to vote before 10/29Check your information, change your party, or register to vote here.

⏰ October 22nd - November 4th: Early voting across Massachusetts! Here’s what you need to know to vote early. Schedules should be available town-by-town 5 days before early voting begins, or October 17th! 

✉️ November 1, 2022: Vote by mail application deadline. Here is the paper application to vote by mail to be mailed to your city or town, plus the online application if you’d rather apply that way. You can find everything you need to know about voting by mail in Massachusetts here.

🗳️ November 8th, 2022: Election Day Polling Hours: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Here’s where you’ll be able to find your in-person polling location.

If you arrive at the voting station and learn that they don’t have you listed as a registered voter, you may request a Provisional Ballot that day to cast your vote. If for some reason you are having a hard time with your request for a provision ballot, don’t give up, you have a right to the ballot and to cast your vote.
