Animation + Motion Media
Storytelling is universal, it has existed to communicate ideas big and small throughout human history and across every culture. Animation is one of the most powerful, visually stimulating, and entertaining ways to tell a story. Using the art of animation as a basis for creating strong narratives, Storytelling Animated introduces the animation production process through the exploration of a wide variety of conceptual and technical workshops. Emphasizing both traditional narrative and non-traditional storytelling approaches, this course examines a wide range of visual possibilities within the animation medium, while introducing the basic concepts and principles involved in creating short animated films. Through a series of workshops that focus on various animation techniques including hand-drawn animation, stop-motion animation, digital animation, and experimental animation, students will develop an array of animation skills to tell stories in new and dynamic ways.
