Lesley Students Bring Musical Theater Back to Campus in Cabaret Night
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and LA+D students in Professor Liv Cummins’s CCRWT / CDRAM 2200 Art and Craft of Musical Theater Writing course present their original songs-and-scenes-in-progress on Wednesday and Thursday, April 13 and 14 at 7:00 - 8:30 pm in Washburn Auditorium in “Writing is Hard: A Collaboration Cabaret.”
Songs and scenes range from light-hearted looks at writer’s block and fantasy frolics with witches and Willow the Cat to more serious examinations of the various pressures and experiences of college students in a challenging world. In this introductory drama and creative writing course, students develop writing and presenting abilities as well as collaborative skills as they create musical theater moments in teams and exchange peer feedback. They share these works-in-progress with audiences as the course’s final project with an emphasis on the collaborative process. The event is free and open to the entire Lesley community.
