Dining
Grab and Go Meals
Nutritious grab and go meals are available to students when Washburn dining hall is not staffed.
Grab and go meals have been available at Washburn since October 15, 2021 and meals are restocked on a regular basis. On average, 20 meals are picked up each weekend.
- On a recent weekend, we stocked 31 meals on Friday night and 6 meals were taken. We restocked Saturday morning and 5 were taken between 9am-3:30pm Saturday. We restocked and 3 meals were taken between 3:30pm Saturday and 10am Sunday. 7 meals were taken between 10am and 3pm on Sunday.
The Dining team keeps track and communicates data to the operations team. Ice cream, yogurt and other food are available in addition to unexpired fresh and frozen meals.
Students who wish to go to Doble to dine can contact Public Safety to obtain a ride. On average 4 people request a ride per evening and all requests have been met.
Access to Dining Halls and Meals
We have arranged for any student who wants to go to Doble to call campus safety for transportation and have grab and go available on the South campus. When we experimented with providing more extensive dinner services on South Campus the result was a large amount of food waste.
All meals on campus meet Safe Serve standards and are cooked to appropriate temperatures. Menu items are labeled with Allergan codes and double checked. On-duty chefs are also now required to send photos of labelling and menus to the managers for approval to eliminate potential on-site errors when food supply changes necessitate last minute menu changes.
Dining Hall staff members are present during all meals. We plan to build out photos of all staff and managers for easy viewing on site to help with identification.
For other feedback, the QR code system on all signage in the dining hall or emailing hospitality@lesley.edu or participating in the Student Dining Advisory group are options.
In addition, we have partnered with Grub Hub to allow for free delivery of take-out for all students, faculty, and staff.
Commuter Food Pantry
The commuter food pantry is currently open for commuter students in a different format due to COVID considerations.
The hospitality team can be contacted at hospitality@lesley.edu to accommodate requests for alternate arrangements.
In addition, the commuterservices@lesley.edu email account can be used to for communications from commuters.
Residence Halls
Clean Water
There is clean water on all campuses.
The University regularly tests the water supplies on campus. All water on campus is 100% potable or safe to drink, bathe and wash in.
We understand students have been frustrated with the unavailability of the lounge area sinks. We have planned plumbing infrastructure work in White Hall during the winter break so that we do not have to relocate students or cause frustration when many projects and assignments are due.
We have worked with our vendors to have additional cases of water and coolers delivered to the lounges.
If there is an issue with hot water, please submit a work order. If it is after hours, please call Public Safety. Our facilities team and outside vendors always try to respond as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, with the current supply chain issues that are out of our control, if a part is needed for a repair, it may take a bit longer than we would like.
Laundry
Laundry will be free in the second semester.
All card readers on laundry machines have been replaced and verified by a member of the Lesley staff.
However, we are unhappy with the service provided by our laundry company and will be removing card readers over break and making laundry free for second semester.
Work Orders
Currently, the Community Advisors (CAs) collect reports from the students and work orders are submitted by the Area Coordinators based on the reports they receive from the CAs.
The help line and Information Technology (IT) help desk can be used to expedite urgent issues.
Urgent issues off hours can also be reported to Public Safety who will contact the manager on duty in facilities.
We are looking at alternatives for streamlining the process for students.
Transportation
Getting Around Campus
Campus Safety is available on weekends to provide rides between campuses.
On weekdays, schedules are available to all and are posted on the Lesley Shuttle application as well as at the shuttle stops and throughout the campus on the LCD screens.
Driving times are regularly monitored and reviewed along with ridership to see if any changes are indicated.
Note that there may be times in bad weather and with traffic when some delays are unavoidable.
COVID-19 Protocols
Lesley's COVID-19 Response
A cross-functional team of senior administration, under the guidance of our General Counsel and in consultation with infectious disease and other experts, manage Lesley’s COVID-19 response, including ensuring our protocols are in line with CDC guidelines.
Weekly testing and contact tracing are done by the Cataldo Ambulance Company. Due to a critical shortage of nurses, we contracted with Mt. Auburn Hospital to provide health services for our students and offer free transportation to the Mt. Auburn facilities.
COVID-19 Testing for Residential Students
Accountability measures are in place to ensure that all residential students are completing their required COVID-19 tests, with outlined consequences for failure to comply with the testing policy.
Dean of Students and residence life staff are tasked with making sure the testing requirements are enforced. The consequences for failure to comply range from being escorted to the testing facility to termination of campus privileges.
Other Resources
The Information for Students page on the Lesley website lists information on resources available to students. This includes an interactive directory that provides brief descriptions of the areas and personnel to contact for a variety of subjects.
It is important that this site is used to make sure issues are responded to expeditiously by the appropriate community member.
