Justin Richmond kicks off 2022-23 Thought Leadership Series at Lesley University

Artist, co-creator of Netflix’s ‘The Dragon Prince’ to speak Oct. 6

Artist Justin Richmond, co-creator of “The Dragon Prince” on Netflix, is the inaugural featured guest of the 2022-23 Thought Leadership Series at Lesley University.

Richmond’s presentation is Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the screening room (Room L-030) of University Hall, 1815 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge. Admission is free, but registration is required. Click here to register for this event.

“The series brings a diverse array of inspirational thinkers, creators and visionaries at the cutting edge of education, mental health, the arts and related fields to engage with members of the Lesley community and the public,” said President Janet L. Steinmayer.

Richmond is also our Fall 2022 Strauch-Mosse Visiting Artist. His “The Dragon Prince” won a 2020 Daytime Emmy for the Outstanding Animated Children’s Series and is in development as a video game. He is the co-founder and executive producer of Wonderstorm, a multimedia entertainment studio.

Previously, Richmond was a research and development producer at Riot Games and the game director on the Uncharted franchise, one of Sony’s most iconic and beloved game franchises with over 25 million units sold as well as 13 DICE Awards and 4 BAFTAs.

Richmond’s presentation is the first of two Thought Leadership Series events this fall. The second is Thursday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m. with Lindsay E. Jones.

Jones is the chief executive officer of CAST, where she works with innovative educators and researchers across the globe to design education systems that are learner-centered, flexible, accessible and rooted in universal design for learning.

Previously, Jones served as president and CEO of the National Center for Learning Disabilities, a nonprofit advocacy organization that promotes innovation, research and youth voice to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities and attention issues. She was also senior director for policy and advocacy at the Council for Exceptional Children where she led federal legislative advocacy and worked with dedicated educators from across the country.
