College of Liberal Arts & Sciences welcomes new faculty

Five new faculty strengthen our student-focused teaching in sciences and humanities

As students begin the school year, they have been greeted by some new faces in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

From poetry and global studies to physics and social movements, our new faculty’s expertise and research spans a rich gamut of subjects. Dean Steven Shapiro is pleased to welcome these five new professors, all of whom have demonstrated a commitment to mentoring students and to original research in their fields.

Bill Barowy, Stephen Haven and Nicole Weber already teach at Lesley and joined the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences anew, transferring from other schools within the university. Ingrid Johnston and Sarah Romano are new to the Lesley community.

Dr. Bill Barowy is an associate professor of natural sciences in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division. He previously taught in our Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Stephen Haven is a professor of creative writing and a poet and writer who previously directed Lesley’s MFA in Creative Writing program.

Dr. Ingrid Johnston is a psychologist and the new associate dean of our College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She joins us from Alfred State College in New York, where she was interim dean and full professor. Previously, Dr. Johnston was a dean and associate dean at Castleton University in Vermont.

Dr. Sarah T. Romano is an assistant professor of political science and global studies, with expertise in politics and Latin American & Latino studies, and comes to us from the University of Northern Colorado.

Dr. Nicole Weber is an associate professor of natural sciences and science in education, who previously taught in our Graduate School of Education where she co-founded the STEAM WonderLab for local youth. Dr. Weber is a scientist, educator and artist who creates holistic ways to teach these subjects.
