On Thursday, November 3, Lesley University presents Lindsay E. Jones, chief executive officer of the Wakefield, Massachusetts-based CAST (originally the Center for Applied Special Technology), as the second speaker in this academic year’s Thought Leadership Series.
Jones’s presentation starts at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater of University Hall, 1815 Massachusetts Avenue, near the Porter Square MBTA station in Cambridge. This event is free and open to the public, though prior registration is required. Click the event page for details.
Jones works with innovative educators and researchers across the globe to design education systems that are learner-centered, flexible, accessible and rooted in Universal Design for Learning. She previously served as the president and CEO of the National Center for Learning Disabilities, a nonprofit advocacy organization that promotes innovation, research and youth voices to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities and attention issues.
“Lindsay places inclusion of differently abled individuals at the center of her work and personal mission,” wrote Lesley President Janet L. Steinmayer in a message to the community. “Her efforts perfectly align with Lesley’s social-justice ethos with regard to making the promise and potential of education accessible to learners of diverse physical abilities and learning styles.”
Jones also served as the senior director for policy and advocacy at the Council for Exceptional Children, where she led federal legislative advocacy and worked with dedicated educators from across the country.
The Thought Leadership Series, now in its second year, brings a diverse array of inspirational thinkers, creators and visionaries at the cutting edge of education, mental health, the arts and related fields to engage with members of the Lesley community and the public.
