Presented by Lesley Art + Design and the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Justice, this virtual event will bring together students across the greater Boston area whose interest in anime informs their perspective and art. With presentations by anime experts, panel discussions, and three exciting contests, the BIPOC Anime Symposium will explore anime’s dynamic cultural and artistic form.

About the Contests...
Students may submit one piece of artwork for consideration in three categories:

Submissions will be accepted until April 24, 11:59 pm ET and winners in each category will be announced prior to the Symposium closing.

Presenters will include:
- Susan Napier, the Goldthwaite Professor of Rhetoric and Japanese at Tufts University
- Stevie Suan, professor at Hosei University’s Faculty of Global and Interdisciplinary Studies
Panel discussions will cover:
- The Role of Community in Anime
- Anime at the Crossroads of Race and Gender
- Anime as a Tool for Developing Artistic Voice
