The Office of Multicultural Affairs and Social Inclusion (MASI) presents "Institutional Racism: Understanding the Lasting Effects of Yesterday’s Systemic Racism." This presentation will explore how in post-Brown v. Board of Education and the Fair Housing Act of 1968 why African Americans are still disproportionately affected by the racial wealth gap in this country. We will examine financial institutions and government policies towards African Americans in housing discrimination and school segregation of the past and how it affects this community through the evolution of racism through zoning, property tax, and white flight.
