Dr. Best is the Menschel Curator of Photography at the Harvard Art Museums and teaches Critical Theory 3 in the MFA in Visual Arts program. She holds a BA from Barnard College, an MFA from Cal Arts, and a PhD from Harvard University. Her scholarly interests focus on 19th and 20th century American photography, with a particular focus on photojournalism, documentary, war photography, and text and image works.
