Q: Can you tell us a bit about your journey at Lesley?
A: My name is Shannon Lee, majoring in counseling with a focus in holistic psychology. I started college in 2019 but took some time off. I came back to Lesley in Spring 2024.
Q: What’s been your favorite thing about Lesley?
A: I was drawn to Lesley because of its alternative psychology tracks, especially holistic approaches. I’ve loved the community and found some amazing professors. I took a swing dance class with one of my favorite professors Neil Klein and his wife Jan, taught my Holistic Approach to Healing. I even ended up TA-ing for an Intro to Counseling class, which I enjoyed because of the meaningful conversations I had with my peers. Jan and Neil also brought me to the Psychosynthesis Summit and Festival, which was an incredible experience.
Q: What will you miss the most about Lesley?
A: Definitely the people! I moved away last fall, but I still miss Cambridge, the fun classes, and the community I built here.
Q: What advice would you give to an incoming Lesley first-year?
A: Try new things and take advantage of the art classes. Explore outside your major—you never know what will spark a passion.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I’ve been accepted into the Master’s Counseling Program at the University of Vermont, starting in Fall 2027. I’m also getting married in September!

Q: What's been your favorite thing about Lesley?
A: My favorite thing has been the community connection, both within the faculty and the broader film community. I’ve had amazing opportunities to work closely with professors and their small studios; in fact, I worked at three different studios during my time here. Being from a small town, I’ve really loved collaborating with the Lesley community to get feedback on my work, building meaningful relationships with professors, and learning about their journeys. Lesley has also helped me shift my perspective on animation from just art to also business. I’ve learned so much about the industry, built my website, and learned how to tailor my work for potential jobs.
Q: What will you miss the most about Lesley?
A: Definitely the people. The collaborative spirit and the relationships I’ve built here have been incredibly special to me.
Q: What advice would you give to an incoming Lesley first-year?
A: Join communities and clubs! Take every opportunity you can and do your best to build credibility and relationships. Also, branch out, seek feedback, and don’t be afraid to share your work with others to grow.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I’m considering staying on to work for a professor at Lesley, possibly in an internship format or freelance. I’m also applying for local jobs and actively building my portfolio.

Q: What's been your favorite thing about Lesley?
A: My favorite thing about Lesley has been its strong, inclusive community, especially within the Threshold program. The program has a unique and active alumni network, and I still get to attend the same alumni events even after I graduate which has helped me feel connected and supported. I’ve also loved living in Cambridge; it’s much more lively than where I’m from (the Chicago suburbs, though I’ve moved around a lot). Getting to take part in off-campus travel events mixed with current students and alumni was a highlight for me.
Q: What will you miss the most about Lesley and your program?
A: I’ll miss the sense of community and the relationships I’ve built, especially through Threshold. The program’s lifelong support, including my independent living coach and the Bridge and Transition year options, has been incredibly valuable. I’ll also miss my friends and the community I’ve built here.
Q: What advice would you give to an incoming Lesley first-year, both today and when you started in 2021?
A: My advice to my freshman self would be to take everything one day at a time. College is a tough transition, especially coming out of the pandemic, but enjoying each moment as it is, is so important.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I’m currently looking for a job and hoping to get some volunteer experience before settling into something more permanent. I’ve already had internships at a daycare, an assisted living facility, and an office, and I work part-time at CorePower Yoga on the studio experience (housekeeping) team. I’m also part of the Threshold Lifelong Support Program, which gives me continued access to coaching and resources as I transition into the next chapter of my life.
