Dr. Rebecca Schendel is lecturer in Education and International Development at the University College London Institute of Education. Her research focuses on the relationship between higher education and human development in sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular emphasis on pedagogy, faculty development, student learning and processes of institutional change.
Prior to assuming her position at UCL, Schendel worked as the Director of Programs at Orphans of Rwanda, a university scholarship program based in Kigali, Rwanda. She has also worked in the Study Abroad Office at the University of Maryland, College Park and at the Institute of International Education in Washington, DC. Schendel is spending the autumn 2017 semester as a visiting scholar at the Boston College Center for International Higher Education.
