"My Family Goes to College: First Generation Immigrants" is a photo project by Mario Quiroz (BA '15, MFA '17). It highlights life, academic, and professional achievements of a group of immigrant students. It aims to create awareness and to celebrate within the Lesley community and Cambridge residents the stories and accomplishments of these young adults and their families.
During commencement, when her name is called to receive the diploma, it's the student walking up to the stage. Yet behind her, there are years and years of hard work and sacrifices by her family. Graduating from the university is a collective experience.
