Learn Reggio-inspired teaching strategies for PreK–2.
This 12-credit graduate certificate program, designed for early childhood educators, is based on the philosophy of preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, which sees children as capable learners who want to learn, connect with others, and flourish in their environment. Deepen your understanding of Reggio-inspired teaching strategies that promote a hands-on/minds-on approach, where children learn by exploring materials and media.
You'll take three required courses, which includes a seminar where you'll implement assignments within an early childhood setting. You'll also choose one elective from a variety of early childhood topics, such as anti-bias education, arts integration strategies, or family engagement, among other options. And, you'll have the opportunity to learn from master teachers in Reggio-inspired classrooms in the Boston area through internships.
At Lesley, we weave the importance of equity and social justice throughout our teacher preparation programs. Emerge from this certificate program with an understanding of how to build Reggio-inspired communities in a range of settings, using culturally responsive ways of teaching.
