Marianne has been teaching at Lesley in the arts in education programs since 2002. She currently works with students from the Integrated Teaching through the Arts (ITA); Arts, Community, and Education, and the Art Education programs. For five years she served as a faculty academic advisor for the national ITA program.
As a teaching artist whose primary interest is the integration of the arts into all aspects of children’s lives, Marianne has worked for 30 years as an Artist in Residence through various agencies, traveling to schools all over Massachusetts as a drama teacher, storyteller, and program developer. She has also served as an Arts Specialist and Humanities Teacher in the Boston Public Schools. As a member of the Cambridge Public Schools Drama Collaborative from 1997-2006 she helped design and implement training and support systems for over 100 teachers in the use of drama in the curriculum.
She has presented at the NELMS conference several times on various topics concerning the development of integrated, multi-disciplinary curriculums, and co-designed the arts panel and day-long workshop sessions for the Global Challenges and Opportunities Facing Children, Youth and Families Conference at Wheelock College. She continues to consult and work with teachers to develop integrated curriculums locally and nationally.
