Jana Van der Veer began her career teaching English as a second language to immigrant communities in the U.K., and later taught in Japan and France. She has worked in a variety of international education settings, including as Coordinator of Recruitment and Marketing for College Year in Athens, and Program Coordinator of the Program on U.S.-Japan Relations at Harvard University. She has worked for the International Higher Education & Intercultural Relations Program since 2000, and currently teaches the courses Intercultural Communication and Grant Writing for Educational and Non-Profit Settings. She has presented at several regional and national NAFSA: Association of International Educators conferences, focusing on merging intercultural relations theory and professional practice, as well as professional development in the field. She holds an M.A. In Intercultural Relations and M.F.A. In Creative Writing from Lesley University.
