New Teacher Community

Supporting and nurturing teachers as they begin their careers

In recent years, a group of School of Education faculty has developed a support system for recent alumni, called the New Teacher Community (NTC). With financial aid from Medical Information Technology (Meditech), NTC has already undertaken many activities, including:

• providing small grants
• offering consultation to new teachers by faculty or more experienced alumni
• convening face-to-face meetings focusing on topics of interest to new teachers
• hosting a listserv
• producing a DVD on career experiences of two Lesley first-year teachers

The NTC meets three times a year, and welcomes participation from other faculty and alumni.  Contact Nancy Roberts if you are interested in attending a meeting.
