New Teacher Community

Supporting and nurturing teachers as they begin their careers

In recent years, a group of Lesley School of Education faculty developed a support system for recent alumni, called the New Teacher Community (NTC). With financial aid from Medical Information Technology (Meditech), NTC has already undertaken many activities, including:

• providing small grants
• offering consultation to new teachers by faculty or more experienced alumni
• convening face-to-face meetings focusing on topics of interest to new teachers
• hosting a listserv
• producing a DVD on the career experiences of two Lesley first-year teachers

The NTC meets three times a year, and welcomes participation from other faculty and alumni.  The NTC is also interested in hearing from experienced alumni who are interested in mentoring newer teachers.  If you would like to attend a meeting and/or serve as a mentor, please contact  Andrea Edson, NTC coordinator, by email or by phone at 617.349.8280.
