From the office of the captain of Public Safety

Lesley University is located in a quiet neighborhood setting.  Although reported crime on campus is extremely low, it is important to remember our campuses are located in an urban environment.  Common sense safety practices, as utilized in any city and highlighted in this handbook, should be used by all Lesley community members while traveling to and from our campuses.
 
 The primary goal of the Public Safety Department at Lesley is to ensure that our students, faculty and staff attain their academic goals in a safe and secure environment.  It is our intention to serve the community, in any way possible, to ensure our goal is achieved.   Our duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing policies which ensure the safety of all on campus, educating and advocating safe practices, conducting detailed watch tours of the entire campus, providing an escort service upon request, maintaining order/control during all emergencies, administering CPR/First Aid as needed, monitoring the shuttle service and traffic/parking control.  

Although Public Safety is primarily responsible for preserving a safe campus, this can only be accomplished if every community member assists.  Accordingly, we have embraced the motto “Our Campus, Our Commitment”.  We believe there is strength and safety in numbers. Every member of the Lesley community is considered a member of our Public Safety team.  As long as we work together and communicate with each other, our mission will succeed.    

Please remember that our door is always open and as members of the Lesley Public Safety team your comments and suggestions are encouraged.  If we may be of any assistance please don’t hesitate, we are here to protect and serve the Lesley community.
