Mass Literacy honored this year’s Mass Literacy Champions during a celebration at the Prudential Center Barnes & Noble yesterday, where kids from around the city took part in story time, played dress up and created their very own fairy tales.

Mass Literacy is a local nonprofit that supports literacy education throughout the Bay State and annually recognizes educators, librarians and community leaders for their commitment to promoting the power that comes with reading.

This year’s Continued Commitment Award was presented to Maureen Manning. This year’s Mass Literacy Champions were Jane Cohen DeHaven, Patsy Divver, Kevin Green, Susan Jaye-Kaplan, Lorie Mendoza, Diane Nostin Houle, Julie Roach and Kimberly Shaver-Hood.
