Communication

Preparing students for success in a rapidly changing digital information age.

In our rapidly changing digital information age, graduates who understand media have a tremendous advantage. Students in the Communication Program will learn about media criticism, new media technology, and professional media practice while learning through a cooperative media studies perspective. They will emerge empowered to use mass and social media to achieve their personal and professional goals, as well as achieve success in a business world dependent on managing digital enterprises.

The integration of the Communication major with Lesley’s liberal arts requirements provides students with diverse opportunities to examine the impact of media practices on all sectors of society, including issues around social justice. Students study the basic theories and issues related to communication in a technology-driven global community and develop the ability to use technology to create, collect, analyze, and communicate information. They also learn the fundamental skills of image creation and design honing their ability to think creatively and work collaboratively in the digital age. All Communication majors benefit from field experiences and internships that link theory and practice, while also gaining the hands on experience which employers seek.
