Conflict Of Interest

(effective 1/1/07)

The University Community is responsible for the integrity and ethics of the University, and it is the University's intent to avoid conflicts between your personal interests and the interests of the University. Therefore, when any University business transaction under consideration presents you with the potential for a conflict of interest, you will refrain from involvement in the transaction. Lesley University expects you to avoid involvement in activities that might conflict with your job responsibilities.

The University prohibits employees from using their position for private gain or advantage for themselves or family members. The University expects all employees to use good judgment, acting in a manner that is in the best interests of Lesley, avoiding an actual conflict of interest or the appearance of one. Examples of the potential for a conflict of interest would be if you were employed by both the University and by an organization that supplied products or services to the University, or if a University employee influenced the use or purchase of those products or services, or if confidential or privileged information acquired at Lesley were used in an outside activity. Areas of potential conflict may include intellectual property, investments, industry relationships, affiliates, procurement, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

If you have any questions regarding potential conflicts of interest please contact the Office of the General Counsel.
