Designing and Assessing Powerful (Even Magical) Playful Learning Experiences: The Pedagogy of Play Project
Play and playfulness are core resources for learning. Yet play does not always easily fit into school. The goal of the Pedagogy of Play (PoP) project is to help educators bring more playful learning into schools. This workshop highlights key PoP ideas and provides opportunities to experiment with PoP tools. The workshop uses the Harry Potter books to animate these ideas. No knowledge of the series is required, though a playful mindset is helpful.
Leading the workshop will be Ben Mardell, Lesley early childhood professor and PoP Project co-principal investigator, and Katie Ertel, research assistant at PoP. The Pedagogy of Play project is part of Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
