Denise Malis, Ph.D., MFA, LMHC, ATR-BC is an Art Therapy faculty member in the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences at Lesley University. She has utilized art as a guide for self-discovery since receiving her MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 1980. Two- and three-dimensional artwork allow her to incorporate found objects with visual imagery. Art making as a reflective base has provided her with a means to ask and explore visual questions that integrate her work and identity as an art therapist and educator. Her work with students, supervisees and individuals in clinical and non-clinical settings employs visual inquiry as a means to build self-knowing. Denise is committed to the inclusive creative development of individuals and communities and believes that art is an ongoing personal process of expression and well-being.
