The Literacy for All Conference in Providence, RI is the Northeast region's leading PreK-8 Literacy Conference and Reading Recovery professional development event. Attend the Literacy for All Conference and hear from the leading literacy experts and notable children's authors.
New Features
This year’s new and dynamic program promises to be one of the best ever. The 2009 Literacy for All Conference program committee has added the following features to the event:
- EXPANDED Middle School Strand with 3-4 workshops per time block devoted to adolescent literacy learning
- NEW: PreK Strand added
- NEW: In-depth Reading Recovery sessions added to Monday's schedule
- NEW: In-depth Literacy Conference sessions added to Tuesday's schedule
- FOCUS on Response to Intervention
- MORE choices (120 sessions) with the new and dynamic schedule. Participants can choose to attend a keynote or a session within the same time block.

Pre-Conference Workshops, Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009
Energize your teaching by registering for a one-day workshop! Pre-conference workshops are intensive study sessions on specific topics with experts in the field of literacy learning. The workshops are designed to improve, enhance and extend the quality of your teaching. Don't miss this opportunity to learn valuable strategies and techniques to use in your classroom. PreK-8 Literacy Conference with Middle School Strand, Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 16-17, 2009
In this two-day conference for PreK-8 literacy educators, you'll learn about the best literacy practices from the finest trainers in the field of literacy. Participants will come away with a better understanding of the current beliefs and practices in the field of education and learn valuable strategies to use in the classroom. NEW! The 2009 Literacy for All Conference program committee added a PreK Strand to this year's program as well as expanded the middle school offerings. Three-hour, in-depth literacy conference sessions were also added to Tuesday's schedule.
Reading Recovery Institute, Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 16-17, 2009
Here's your opportunity to strengthen and reinforce the skills of Reading Recovery teaching. The Reading Recovery Institute promotes a greater understanding and facilitates better teaching practices for Reading Recovery professionals. NEW! Three-hour, in-depth Reading Recovery Sessions were added to Monday's schedule.
Professional Development Points (and CEU's)
Participants can earn up to 10.5 PDPs for attending the two-day conference and an additional 4 PDPs (for a total of 14.5 PDPs) for attending a pre-conference workshop on Sunday. Just before leaving the conference, participants complete a one-page purple objectives form and will receive a certificate of attendance. Certificates of attendance are distributed at various stations around the Rhode Island Convention Center and the Westin Hotel, including at the conference registration booths (Convention Center), outside of Ballroom A (Convention Center), outside of the Waterplace Ballroom (Westin), outside of Narragansett Ballroom A (Westin) and outside of the Providence Ballroom (Westin). One CEU = 10 PDPs.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is an unprecedented event for the educational community. The Center is positioned to assist educators in improving student academic achievement and performance through its professional development offerings, including the Literacy for All Conference.
