2009 Conference Scholarships and Funding

Sue Hundley Memorial Fund Scholarship (2 available)
Scholarships are available for one Reading Recovery teacher and one classroom teacher to attend the Literacy for All–Northeast K-8 Literacy Conference & Reading Recovery Institute. Applicants are ;required to submit a brief essay describing the goals they hope to achieve by attending the conference, including how they will share the information upon returning to their home district, as well as describe their financial need for the scholarship. The application form must be co-signed by the applicant's principal or Teacher Leader.

The scholarships cover:

  • Two-day full-conference registration fee
  • Overnight accommodations for two nights
  • Up to $100 for parking, food and travel expenses (upon submission of original, itemized receipts)

Reading Recovery Conference Travel Grant by Larkin's Little Readers
Bruce Larkin will award five hundred (500) grants each school year, up to a maximum of $200 each to help offset the travel expenses incurred attending the Reading Recovery conference. Free Registration for Graduate Student Volunteers
Graduate students who volunteer on Monday have the opportunity to attend the conference for free on Tuesday. Students must be enrolled in a full-time, accredited university degree program. For more information, email literacy@lesley.edu or call 617.349.8402.

Complimentary Registration for Presenters
Submit a session proposal for the 2010 conference program and if your session is selected, you will receive a complimentary two-day 2010 conference registration good for Monday and Tuesday (one free registration per session for the session's lead presenter only).

Funding
Funding for your conference participation may be available through Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Charter Schools Funding, Parent-Teacher Organizations and the new federal funding, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the stimulus money earmarked for teacher professional development).
