Literacy Collaborative LITERACY COORDINATOR TRAININGLiteracy coordinator training is a multi-year process. Training begins during phase two of implementation after the school-based leadership team has been trained and after the application process for literacy coordinator training has been submitted and accepted. In some cases, phase one and phase two occur simultaneously. During phase two, the literacy coordinator-in-training is learning to implement the language and literacy framework in the classroom and preparing to serve as the school's literacy coordinator and staff developer. Following are the requirements and responsibilities of literacy coordinators as they progress through training and implementation. Training Year Requirements and Responsibilities
During the field year (year two), the literacy coordinator continues to implement the language and literacy framework in the classroom for 2.5 - 3 hours each day. The literacy coordinator begins to train classroom teachers to use the framework in their own classrooms. Field Year Requirements and Responsibilities
After completing the training year and the field year, the literacy coordinator progresses on to continued implementation. From this point forward, as long as the school remains a Literacy Collaborative school, the literacy coordinator continues to provide staff development and coaching for the school faculty 30 - 50% of the week, teaches in a classroom 50 - 70% of the week, coordinates data collection and analysis, attends the Northeast Early Literacy Conference and the National Literacy Coordinator Institute, and attends four days of professional development at Lesley University.
