Come Play! Art + Design Cardboard Arcade At Gallery 344

Lesley design students bring user experience to life at Cambridge City Hall.

Over the past few semesters, art and design students studying user experience have been assigned the task of creating a cardboard arcade. Each term has brought about different interpretations of games and how to construct them, but every arcade has exemplified accessible design, rapid prototyping, and user testing.

Two students play an interactive maze game.

Projects from last semester have found a new home in Gallery 344 at Cambridge city hall. The games range from navigating a maze, to clashing battleships to an interstellar raid. Bringing the arcade to city hall means a new group of users had the chance to interact and battle it out in Lesley art and design's cardboard arcade.

Organized by design students, along with faculty Ryan McQuade, the Office of Community Engagement, and in partnership with Cambridge Arts the arcade was on exhibit at Gallery 344 from February to April. A public reception was even held in the Gallery with many from the Cambridge community and surrounding areas in attendance.

Gallery 344 is free and open to the public.
